Hello, sorry for being away for a bit. I got sick again (too much for the start in a new year), and this threw me of off posting. Lets try to get back onto the track. I did for some reason decide to do a full recap, so uh, its a long one.</p>

While going through my photos I realized I forgot to put two in last weeks blogpost, since they are awesome I want to present them here as well. The cake from my friend, and the Lego floor plan people got creative with.</p>

Recap 1</h2>
On Monday I had the job interview with my old work place. They should give me an update this week how it turns out, and I should also hear from the MiniaturWunderland (Spoiler: I did in fact not hear back from both for the next two weeks, but to make a long story short not my next job</em>). I had a nice lunch/farewell with the department I wrote my thesis with. After that I donated blood with my friends. In the evening I tried out the archipelago mod for Overcooked 2</a> with my flatmate. It is quite the hard game for the randomizer, but it was fun. I hope to use my free time to actually play a larger round of this with people. Tuesday I played a bit of Raft with my other best friend who had a free day, which was very nice. Sadly my girlfriend got quite sick, so she couldn’t join in. Then I spend some hours getting the member fees of NewPipe e.V. in order with proper announcement. Always a bit of fun to be on the other side of a SEPA mandate. I also attended the IT committee from my youth work community.</p>
From now on I mostly cared for my girlfriend nursing her back to health. Wednesday I did a bit of sport and then attended the farewell from the other department I worked in during free time between my semesters. In the evening I had the planning meeting of the bachelor party of a good friend of mine who marries this year. I get to take care of board games! On Thursday I joined the constitutive seating of the new youth council, which was very refreshing. On Friday I went bouldering again, this time with people from my studies. On Saturday I spend the first part of the day finishing the book, later we went shopping and I baked some muffins and we did burgers. And on Sunday we started with cleaning the kitchen and then went back to my girlfriends hometown where we have the mission to deep clean the room and get rid off a lot of stuff, so she can downsize and swap rooms with her brother.</p>
Recap 2</h2>
The motto of the following weeks: Cleaning and down-scaling. I did manage to get sick again though, which kept me busy for a mayor part of the week. I did get to celebrate the birthday of my mother though, and me and my girlfriend went to a Charlie Chaplin showcase together with a live orchestra. I also went to an organ jazz concert with my dad, our local church got itself a new organ because the old one broke. And now they celebrate with an organ year, so a couple of concerts are happening there.</p>

Recap 3</h2>
We had a quick plenum meeting to do a formal association thing we didn’t get to in our last plenum meeting. We also had a board game meetup with two friends of my girlfriend. She had some theater that week, I got to see an early version of the play of one of her groups. The father of my girlfriend celebrated his birthday with a small amount of people, we played Hitster. On Sunday, I meet up with a friend from university to do some bouldering and play board games.</p>

Recap 4</h2>
On Monday I had a meetup with some people from my university side project I finished for good now. I also went with my flatmate to the cinema. I did spend some time on my art project in the flat. On Friday I traveled with my parents to my grandfather at Essen. A bit of a trip (~5 hours) to get there. We had a very productive Saturday where I had to dive into his internet provider setup which involved a lot of talking to humans, lots of fun. We also bought a new monitor and some gardening stuff. Sunday we went to an exhibition about the Krupp Family at Villa Hügel</a>.</p>

Recap 5</h2>
On Monday we drove back, on Tuesday I followed along my girlfriend to an open day at some universities she is now considering to study at. On Wednesday after enjoying the sunny weather and some cleaning up we went back to Hamburg. This is where this being-sick saga sadly continues, starting with Thursday and my girlfriend. It got her really good so I spend the free time of the week taking care of her. I also however put quite some effort in my `python-telegram-bot</code> project, where I have taken over the maintainer role now together with a fellow contributor, I developed the next API update. And I proof-read a 50 page 150 years celebration issue of my sport association. Finally we had a celebration in my youth work, the main worker there had an employment anniversary.</p>`
`</div>`Culinary highlight</h2> There were ofc a lot of great food moments, but this post is already getting very long. When visiting my grandfather, we went to a restaurant I already was in and really looked forward to, Ronja</a> (this being the middle of Germany means ofc no English version). They make great vegan food and have a very tasty beer brewed specifically for them, what a combo.</p> At one point in this period we made some Pita. Like the filling, the breads itself was bought :D. That was a really nice experience though. </a> </a> </div> </p> Song of the week</h2> I like a lot of songs from Avicii, for me he is the definition of good house music. One of my top three songs from him is definitly Wake me up</a>. It quite nicely nails this feeling of being told that one is too young for smth</em>, which I never liked to hear. </p> Currently watching/reading/listening</h2> We finally finished The Cosmere</em> \o/ And just in time, on Tuesday the next kickstarter for a small story collection started. It was a lot of fun to read this together with my mother, deepening our understanding of it and discussing what we like and what not. My birthday present to her was the Stormlight</em> world building RPG book which released last year, not that easy to get hold off in Germany.</p> I also took my sick period to read all of The Hunger Games</em> books. I read the main three already a while ago, but now I also included the two prequels. I don’t like the world building as much, and the focus on the relationships - not my preferred genre, but I do understand why people like it.</p> And I read the first entry of the Illuminae</em> book series. The story is told through documents and transcripts (mostly), which introduces a great distance between you and the protagonists. You feel a bit like intruding on them basically. And it had a HAL like computer in there, so that was a great read for me.</p> Games</h2> Given the time I had on my hands, one would thought I woud finally really get back into gaming. But sadly, not as much as I wanted. I did however play a bit Unrailed, Rocket League and Echo Point Nova with friends. That was a lot of fun.</p> And I discovered Everdell</a> in Recap 3. It took us a lot of time, but we had a blast. Great game, not a lot of interaction needed which makes it a good fit if you want to talk with people while playing it. And it looks awesome.</p> Projects</h2> I updated my art project finally. Now its has a usb serial connection, which is amazing because I can now query for a button press without a visual delay (or I mean, at least not a really big annoying delay). And when that button is pressed I can show when the next train comes, because I applied for a API token from our public transport provider. Next upgrade will be routes and bus connections. Recap amendment</h2>
First and foremost, I have to right a wrong: I forgot in last weeks recap that my girlfriends internship at the Thalia theater for To my little boy</a> ended with the premiere on Friday. We were there ofc, and she got to go on stage during the applause. It was a fine performance, but we all agreed it wasn’t anything groundbreaking either. That means however she has a lot of free time now as well, so we will tackle cleaning her room next week.</p>

Recap</h2>
The week started with me defending my bachelor thesis, as mentioned last post. I celebrated with my two best friends and my girlfriend together after finishing that and turning my work stuff in. The not-flatmate friend even baked a very tasty cake, and we had a nice evening, dinner, and played some Mario Kart. Tuesday began with us clearing up the flat so the painter could finish the fixing up of the windows she began last week. We also had a surprise visit from an electrician, who had a look at our not fixed wall in order to give his recommendation to our landlords. After that, I went with my girlfriend to our hometown/her families place. We volunteered to drive out the quarterly newsletter from our church to the people who then hand it out. It is not a huge commune, we did have to drive to 33 places and it still took us about 5 hours. It was a lot of fun though, got to meet a variety of people who volunteer to do that. And also the parents of my friend which was awesome.</p>

Wednesday my girlfriend had time to give me a haircut, and we drove back to Hamburg where I joined the yearly plenum meeting of NewPipe e.V. No board changes or anything radical, but it was a good year we had and I am hopeful that this year will be even better. On Thursday I spend my day doing the last bit of work on a side project from university, which is very nice to have finished now. I went to the Hamburg Service on site to get a new identity card though (still a bit salty I have to pay for stuff the governement forces me to do), and in the evening me, my girlfriend and flatmate took a train to Lüneburg to visit Pons. The oldest pub in the town, a totally cozy environment and lots of vegan options compared with great beer was a perfect celebration.</p>

The weekend was also quite full. A mutual friend took me and my girlfriend bouldering. It was her first time, she enjoyed it a lot. On Sunday I organized a youth congregation (I could build the floor plan out of Lego) and election of the next council. Since there were the same amount of applicants as seats, it was just a confirmation election, but always nice to have them together. I also found time to fix some small issues with the newpipe-ev.de</a> website.</p>

    I had a talk with my father about music recently. He suggested Mike Oldfield, which you probably know from Moonlight Shadow</a>. I quite enjoy his style, I listened to a bit more of his songs.

Currently watching/reading/listening</h2>
I stopped reading “Isles of the Emberdark” to give my mother some time to catch up. I will read “This Way Up” from the Map Men</a>, which is a sketch YouTube channel I enjoy a lot. The book is about weird maps apparently, so I will enjoy that light reading.</p>
Games</h2>
My girlfriend finished “Detroit: Become Human”. It was a lot of fun experiencing it partially, I will replay it now with her and see how far our decisions/the story diverges. She has her sights set on “Beyond: Two Souls” now, from the same studio.</p>
We played two card games in Pons. Star Munchkin</a>, which is just the normal munchkin but in space. It has a nice gimmick though, one can stack laser weapons. My girlfriend managed to get six lasers stacked. And we played Staying Alive</a>, which we haven’t played before. It was a lot of fun, I think its even better with more people though and with the later missions we haven’t done yet.</p>
Projects</h2>
Looking at my website from my mobile phone I realized that the scaling of the video last week works on desktop, but really not on phone. Researching a bit the flex attributes, I realized I could give the video a max-width of 40% and let the browser scale the video automatically depending on how much space the photos left it. Uni Dino project</h3>
I realized I forgot to tell you all about the final version of the uni project, which I promised two blog posts ago</a>. First a video which tells you more then words.</p>

As you can see, we achieved most of our goals. There is a nice game over screen, randomized appearance of different enemies, a counter going up, the debug LEDs lighting up. We thought we might end up doing a full game menu or scoreboard with names, but the menu flow would have been rather awkward to do with the buttons we had. My project partner did the hardware and managed to put it all in the nice box, which looks awesome. I painted the sprites manually in Pixelorama</a>, which is something I rarely do and enjoyed a lot. I am very happy with this project, great ending to my studying.</p>

Recap</h2>
Monday and Tuesday were spend with finishing the electronics presentation, and holding the presentation. The next days were mostly me writing the final report which we had to hand in on Friday, and on Thursday I held my thesis defending presentation to some work colleagues. They gave me great feedback which improved the presentation a lot. On the weekend was a “massive” (8 players) online CIV V tournament organized by a friend of mine which I and my flatmate joined. Neither me nor my flatmate had played the game before, so we played some tutorials on Wednesday. I didn’t do too well, but it was a blast.</p>
And today I finished my bachelor study with the defensive presentation and then some questions. I am done with studying! Party time! I have some free time now which I will use for some projects, so keep a watch out for them :)</p>

    One more band I enjoy quite a few songs from: IDKHOW. The name is short for I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME, they were found between a bassist and a drummer, so their songs have a refreshing focus on these instruments while being a nice electronic rock otherwise. One of their best songs imho is: Do It All The Time</a>. Check out more of their work if you enjoyed this.

Currently watching/reading/listening</h2>
I also finished reading “Arcanum Unbound”. Now we are onto the “Isles of the Emberdark”, which is apparently set in the future of the Cosmere - a very nice change of pace. I also quite enjoy the characters in there (finally getting a closer look on dragons), so that is going to be a lot of fun.</p>
I also did start watching “The Mentalist” a bit, I don’t enjoy the police setting or hypnosis too much, but damn are the characters and their relationships well written.</p>
Games</h2>
My girlfriend started playing “Detroit: Become Human”. I have seen a lot about this game and look very much forward experiencing this alongside her.</p>

At the time of writing this post, I am only six days away from completing my studies! 2026 is going to be a very</em> exciting year.</p>
Recap</h2>
Week 1</h3>
To start the year off, I was still rather sick. This depleted my poor blogpost buffer again, since I spend a lot of effort getting at least the last blog out. However, me and my girlfriend went to see the CATS! exhibition at MARKK</a> and we recognized Bela B</a>. I was very star-struck and didn’t want to bother him, but I did tell him that I am a huge fan. Next time I see someone I am a huge fan of, I will ask them if they have a moment to chat.</p>
I celebrated new years with my flatmate, girlfriend and parents playing board games. On the first, me and my father installed two key boxes in the youth house - I always enjoy doing these projects with him. I started working on my electronics project. It did start to snow, so I bought some weather appropriate shoes for my girlfriend with her. And on Sunday I went to my grandparents putting the tree down. I also got to dismantle a toaster which stopped working. Sadly my father figured out what was broken before I did :/ Even though one of us is a trained Electrician and should have had dibs, dad! 😡</p>

Week 2</h3>
I had a work meeting on Tuesday regarding the expiring of my contract. It is rather interesting how I will continue in this regard. I currently have an interview lined up for a job there, if that doesn’t work out I either hope the Miniatur Wunderland</a> will reply to my application or I shall work a student job at my university and use the free time to further along some of my projects which need attention, before figuring out where I want to apply next. The rest of the week was mostly spend on finishing my electronics project, and on my presentation for the defending of my bachelor thesis. We had the highest snowfall in the last 15 years in Hamburg, I very much enjoyed this. On Sunday me and my girlfriend went to the Nasch cafe</a>, and took a winter stroll around the binnen alster, inspired by the snowmen there.</p>

Culinary highlight</h2>
We did some very nice fried potatoes (I always have to fight to get a non pasta based dish made in this shared flat). We also gave pancakes a shot, though I did not enjoy this recipe as much as I hoped, so I will try a different one later.</p>

Christmas presents haul</h2>
I realized I never got around to show off what I got for Christmas.</p>

The chair was the big present, I actually went with my grandmother and mother to a shop and we picked it out. It is amazing, it works really well for me. I got the books I wished for, I will read them after Brandon Sandersons. I also wished for the bottle opener in the bottom left, and the half eaten chocolate circles. And for the guitar picks. Then my grandmother gifted me the tea. My father made me and my brother the wooden thing on the right of the bottle opener, which is also a bottle opener. Then I got a lot of games in the middle there from various people, especially looking forward to the star wars unlock game. They are standing on a Gymba Board</a> my mother got us, which works rather well for me. The Star Wars tie was a surprise present from my girlfriend, and she also got me Star Munchkin</a> which really look forward to playing but my brother lend it from me so its not in the picture. Also not there is the marzipan bar I forgot to include, a traditional present from my grandfather.</p>

    A band I enjoy quite some songs from is Bloodhound Gang. They are apparently not as popular international as they are in Germany, though I do hope you know their bigger hits. They are very witty in their lyrics and well, often quite vulgar/harsh. I would like to recommend a lesser known song from them: Take The Long Way Home</a>. It's a bit of a morbid take on why one should continue to life, but it is so stock full of good word plays. I recommend Genius</a> to see some explanation for them.
  </p>

Currently watching/reading/listening</h2>
I am finishing up the Arcanum Unbound stories. A very exciting one is set on the same planet as Isles of the Emberdark, so I do look even more forward to this now. We are also getting back into watching Doctor Who, The Sandman and The Foundation in the evening, which is great.</p>
And I’d like to shoutout bitluni</a>, who made some awesome looking LED magnet tiles</a> (especially recommend 7:20</a> where he has to solder while fighting magnets).</p>
Games</h2>
I got around to playing Computer games again finally. I did start with Balatro</a>. maybe not a good idea I can see the addiction potential.</p>
Projects</h2>
The week was mostly us finishing the electronics project. I did the bulk of the programming which I rather enjoyed, and we implemented everything we wanted. I am just a smidge annoyed that a bug I thought I fixed with the counter did turn out not to be fixed, and there is no way to actually fix it now :( Otherwise a very good project, no one else made a game in this group so we kinda set ourselves apart with that which was nice as well. I will include images next post, this one is getting too long.</p>

Recap</h2>
Christmas is upon us. I hope you had a wonderful time, I sure did. The weekend was as nice as expected, we started with the puzzles and I hopped over to my girlfriend for a bit as well. Monday I made a bigger shopping tour with my father, and we did some gardening after. Some more puzzles, I went over to my girlfriends place for a spell, and my brother arrived. Tuesday I spend most of the day playing Volleyball with former classmates and after that we played a round of Dog Royal</a>, which was great. I slept at my girlfriends place for a change, and on Wednesday we went to my grandparents. We had a nice Christmas day with lots of presents. Thursday some more family members came there and we had a second Christmas celebration. Friday we drove home, I went to the third (and final) Christmas celebration, this time one of my girlfriend though. Saturday we met up with a friend of ours to play the T.I.M.E stories scenario: Under the mask</a>, as well as an Exit puzzle - Das Gold der Piraten</a>. Sadly I got a bit of a cold with fever, a first for my blog post. On Sunday I didn’t do a lot on account of me being sick, but the friends of my brother arrived with whom he will go on a trip on Monday, which made for a very lively evening.</p>
Puzzles</h2>
For the last couple years we did a lot of puzzles in the Christmas family time. My father goes all out with the boxes, and so it escalates a bit every time. This is a short impression, I intended to write out like proper feedback, but I am too sick.</p>

Culinary highlight</h2>
We have a long running take on a Swedish blueberry cake. We use elder berries which grow in our backyard. It is a lot, like a full blown dinner right there. Also because we have this vanilla sauce which is mostly fat to put on it.

    In contrast to last week, HandClap</a> by Fitz and The Tantrums is a song I really enjoy, but I don't know a second song from them. This one is a banger though, the handclaps are beautifully waved into it, and the text is quite layered with references for it being simply about a night full of love.

Currently watching/reading/listening</h2>
I can finally talk about White Sands \o/. This is a graphic novel of Brandon Sanderson, where he used an idea he had for a normal text novel which didn’t come to fruition. When the comic publisher approached him, he realized that magic system he came up with works beautifully in comic form, and I do agree. I quite liked it, especially the later ones. I did buy and read it over the last two months though, but I couldn’t tell you about it because I gifted them to my mother for Christmas, so it had to be a surprise. I also read a bit further in Arcanum Unbound, finished the last Artemis Fowl book, and am a fifth through Elantris, the second last Brandon Sanderson book left. Only the Isles of the Emberdark we haven’t touched yet, and we are all caught up (he did already announce a Kickstarter for a small book in the Cosmoverse, and is writing the first of the next trilogy of Mistborn, so. We are hopefully getting new content for a while still :D)</p>
Projects</h2>
I did the reverse ordering of my music posts in my music list</a>. I figured out how: Instead of iterating over the map/dictionary of the toml, I did a range starting from the first blog post id with music to the length of the toml. And then I reversed it. Quite simple, much wow, still a bit confused if I understood the programming language correctly because I had to do a variable where I thought I could get away without one… And now I wonder if I should turn it into a table and link to the blog post…</p>
And I am playing around with hover tooltips on the images, the text when larger didn’t display nice on mobile. Not fully happy yet, might need some more tweaking in the future.</p>

In order to get proper back into my rhythm, where I pre-write these post during the week, I decided to do another two week recap in one blog post. Partly also because the last week was rather uneventful again.</p>
Recap</h2>
Week 50</h3>
I had to do a short presentation about our electronics projects I posted about two posts ago</a>, together with my partner. The status of it was not radically different then when I posted back then, it is in a bit of an annoying trial and error phase right now. But the presentation was well received. It and the summary document we had to hand in two days later did set me back with my thesis though, which I finished as a first draft with a last push on Monday. We had a Christmas event with our volleyball group on Thursday, and on the weekend my girlfriend was invited to a birthday party and I got brought along. The Sunday after that I played some beach volleyball with classmates. After that I went to a movie poster auction at a cinema for charity with my girlfriend, and we went to a nice little Christmas market</a>. It had a small fireplace in the middle and like 7 shops around it right in front of the apostel church.</p>
Week 51</h3>
I dragged out implementing the feedback round on my bachelor thesis over the week, I got it done on Thursday though. I had a recording for an “introduction to programming with C” project I worked with in university for the last year, that was fun. Friday I actually printed out and handed in my thesis, did some cleaning up and went to my home town for a small thank event in my youth work. I will spend some quality time with my parents on Saturday, we will do a vegan roast beef and start with puzzles. And Sunday we will go to my grandparents and put up the Christmas tree, in the evening we will do the second board meeting of the year.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
We made some very cool arepas (recipe</a>), 3-ingredient pan-fried cornmeal cakes with some filling. We liked the baked ones from our oven way more then the pan fried ones. We also included some self made garlic sauce, probably not very Mexican.</p>

    I have not a lot of bands/artists where I listen to a lot of their songs. One of them is AJR. I could link to a lot of their songs here, but I will stick to my theme thus far and constrict myself to just one. So I will use the one I discovered them with: 3 O'Clock Things</a>. I listened to it and enjoyed it until the very last line, which caught me so off guard I listened to the whole song again. And then to more of their songs. Currently watching/reading/listening</h2>
I did some light reading in my procrastinating phase and reread a bit of Artemis Fowl. Big fan of the book series, I don’t think there is a second one where the protagonist of a child book is a rather evil genius child. Such a neat setup. But I very much look forward to dive back into Brandon Sanderson now \o/.</p>
This week I’d like to shout out ShowCase</a>, former MovieDB. This android app is a local take on letterboxd, which my girlfriend uses religiously, and its rather well made. I am not good in actually using these tracking apps, but we will see if I end up getting something out of this one.</p>
Games</h2>
I enjoy replaying Split Fiction</a> with my girlfriend. I am missing three achievements still, one rather annoying one, so I am gunning for those and having fun being better at something for a change. Not like Rocket League for example where most of my friends can fly circles around me.</p>

Hi there, it has been two weeks I missed. I had the writeup for the first one actually quite ready, but then the bachelor thesis just took so much head space I put this on the back burner. You have also not missed much actually. Since I basically only did my thesis, there was not a lot going on. But that is done now (I finished writing the first draft, now I wait on feedback and will hand it in next week), so I can go back to living.</p>

It didn’t stick around long. Tuesday I worked pretty successfully on my thesis, and had an university meeting. Wednesday and Thursday was also just working on the thesis. Friday was not that successful, I am a bit behind where I want to be but its not an issue, yet</em> 😅. I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend though. And then we went to a trip with other youth counselors of my home town, for the weekend till Sunday afternoon. Though I didn’t get a lot of sleep like last week, it was a lot of fun with them. And a great break from the thesis, I am more energized to return to the current rather annoying part now.</p>
Week 49</h3>
There was me being busy with the bachelor thesis through the week. Huge thank you to my flatmate who was down to go to the library with me which pulled me through the end. A bit else happened though, I got a nice secret santa gift: A pokemon puzzle</a>. I bought myself a reduced advent calendar, the EXIT one</a> of this year. It is a lot of fun, maybe next year I will see if I can get my hands on the space one from last year I prefer the topic even more :D On the weekend I baked cookies at my grandparents, together with my parents, girlfriend and flatmate. And on Sunday the family of my girlfriend celebrated her birthday.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
I baked some cookies on the first weekend on the trip, there was just a grate sadly so some got. Bendy. They tasted good all the same. And the last picture is the result of the second week baking with my grandparents.</p>

I very much enjoy reading them, stuff he put in his newsletter have found their way into my blog posts a couple times. An example: Atomic Shrimp makes an apple pie out of 100% apple. No, really. 100% apple. No flour. No water. Just apple. What a video</a>.</p>
Games</h2>
I spend a bit of time on Friday trying out archipelago.gg</a>. It is a cross game randomzier, so you play through your randomized game with usually abilities and key items removed, you don’t know where they are or how to unlock the next stages, and your friends to the same with different games. If you find an item, it can be from your own game or is send to your friends one. I played A Hat in Time, which is my second favourite 3D Platformer, it was a lot of fun. I hope to repeat this in the future with multiple people.</p>

I did one of my absolute favourite crafting projects, a bascetta star. They are basically like origami, you fold paper in a specific way and then intertwine it together so you get an awesome star only though folding 30 pieces of paper. It is the brain child of Paolo Bascetta (his website</a> has a lot more of these works). And he also has a small history of the star</a> document. Can really recommend if you are like me, uh, the type of person who enjoys following recipes to the letter.</p>
Nerdy this website issue/improvement stuff</h3>
I included auto playing videos in my last blog post. Some time ago when those were really annoying, so browsers decoded to not allow auto playing of music/videos with an audio track. Not an issue for me, the LED matrix is silent. But chromium based apps on android apparently couldn’t be bothered to check if the video has an audio track or not, so I had to manually include a muted attribute into the HTML tag after someone told me that the media didn’t load. Annoying, because I ofc tested it before myself and since I use Firefox where it worked, I thought it was fine. And while debugging this issue, I saw that the chrome app I have on my computer apparently does check this and was able to play the video, it was just on Android.</p>
And I decided to do the improvement with the music link. For a technical writedown, check out my Github comment</a>.</p>
Aaand I fixed the 404 error handling which needs special treatment for static sites. Thanks to Matthias Streidel who made a blog post</a> about this where I could just copy paste the solution, amazing.</p>

Here I was on Friday, definitely not procrastinating doing my thesis. And when I looked out of the window in our kitchen to the house which is being build there (when I moved in 5 years ago there was an unused house ruin with like broken windows and the like), I saw people building a small playground before that new house.</p>

I got a new highlight DM this week, a friend of mine read my post and then actually recognized my former roommate I mentioned in the train, so they got to spend some time together, that’s awesome!</p>
Recap</h2>
The Sunday birthday celebration of my grandfather was bigger then I thought, which was nice, I had some good conversations. On Monday I made great progress with my bachelor theses and finished cutting the video, Tuesday the electronics project also made a nice leap forward (see #Projects</a>). Wednesday and Thursday nothing special happened, but hard work on bachelor thesis. I had to face an annoying technical issue with that, which stole me basically a day. I got it back on Friday though with a very productive day before heading to my old school to be a volunteer helper for the mathenacht</a>. It’s a little event which is aimed towards German schools to do some hard math puzzles through a whole night, with different problems for different grades. I did head home “early” though (at ~03:00), cause Saturday I wanted to have some energy for doing some gardening work back home, and in the evening we had a Sweden team meetup (which also went till ~02:00 so completely screwed my sleep schedule which has actually been pretty good the last weeks). Sunday I watched the double feature Wicked 1 & 2 in cinema, which was a bit harsh with that amount of sleep.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
We made some vegan bolognese and the next day with that lasagane which is such a nice double use of the ragù ingredient. Or well mostly my roomate made that, thanks for it :D</p>

I would also like to shout-out a YouTube video this week I saw about how Nobody will ever come close to Manuel Neuer in 2014</a>. It is in German but has an auto dub to English, take that as you will. I do very much like them trying to show with statistics how Neuer changed the football game with his new approach to being a goal keeper. I do not care for football at all, so this should be taken as a huge recommendation.</p>
I didn’t enjoy Wicked 2 as much as I hoped. I really liked the effort they put into the set design of the first part, which came to shine in so many different settings, and the actors got to act with them in a really convincing way. And the big dance numbers. Both of these weren’t really in the second part, probably because the story didn’t really allow them to and they gave a higher priority to have a very close story to the musical instead of having an as good movie as the first one. I guess they would have gotten a lot of negativity from the big musical fans if they decided to change the story, but I personally am not convinced its the right decision :D</p>
Games</h2>
I got myself a Star Wars Trivia Pursuit: The Black Series</a>. I now understand why people like this game, actually knowing the answers or being able to make educated guesses is a lot of fun, I was never able to with the standard version. I got it because my girlfriend has the Doctor Who one</a> and I got jealous, cause that was so cool. But now I have the bigger game 😈.</p>
Projects</h2>
I didn’t take time yet to explain my university course yet, the last one I have. The course is basically “Use a FPGA + a self designed circuit board for something cool”. If you really want to learn what it is, here is the totally not complex wikipdia article</a>. But basically, very limited and hard to program physical connecting of logic blocks. But they are really fast.</p>
We decided to do the chrome dino game</a>, a perfect use of that power. My project partner already had a FPGA and bought a LED matrix which uses the fancy HUB75 protocol which apparently powers the huge LED matrices you see in the wild world. It was a fun challenge to figure out how to use that (thanks to David Venturas blog post</a> about this topic).</p>
So first I fixed the attempt from my lab partner to get two lines working:

Recap</h2>
Sad report about last Sunday, we did not end up doing the Hide and Seek second round because someone got ill. We did not set up a new date yet. I finished cutting one of the videos though, the other one is only missing audio, so that’s rather good. Monday was full, after work where I had a late appointment, I had the same board game group from last week over at our place. Tuesday I had an university meeting, but nothing special otherwise. Wednesday a nice meetup with the participants from the Sweden youth trip I was a youth leader in this summer, and great progress with my bachelor thesis. Thursday I did good progress with my last university course. Friday I went with my girlfriend and my room mate to a “play”/sung performance in a theater bar. Saturday I was responsible for a Volkstrauertag</a> youth event in my home town, we watched the danish drama Land of Mine</a>, a really impactful movie. Sunday I went to my grandparents for a birthday celebration.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
We made some self made vegan chicken</a> for Thai Chilli Basil Chicken. That is such a great recipe for chicken based cooking, I can really recommend it! My mother discovered it a while ago, and we already made chicken rolls with it. One can replace the aluminium foil with cloth compress.</p>

    I had a short discussion with my room mate about some electro house music, I did have Around the world</em> by Daft Punk running in the background. He recommended Giorgio by Moroder</a> which I can't recall hearing before, it is such a great track though. It has a spoken intro where Giorgio Moroder says the infamous line "my name is Giovanni Giorgio but everybody calls me Giorgio".

I did actually start again with some Baldur’s Gate 3. My girlfriend is staying for a while, I look forward playing it with her. Probably only really after my thesis, but we will see.</p>

Hey there. Long time no talk. I didn’t get back into the rhythm after vacation, so I didn’t end up posting. But I realized I missed it a lot, mainly to have a medium to remember what happened in a week. So, we are back, and lets see if I can improve this workload for me. Quite fitting for double digits posts. I am writing my bachelor thesis this month and only have one exam (in form of a small project) left, which is rather exciting.</p>
Recap</h2>
This week, I had a spontaneous nice board game meetup on Monday. Tuesday I wrote a compliment letter for a friend, part of a surprise for them, which is such a nice idea to have. I spend my time Wednesday and Friday cutting together two videos, which is always a fun challenge to me. And Thursday I planned a weekend for the volunteers from my youth work. Friday my old roommate made a surprise visit, we talked a lot which was so nice. And the weekend was a family gathering of my girlfriend’s and on Sunday we will play a second round of the Hide and Seek transit game</a>.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
I did a vegan bee sting cake</a> (these sections always expand my vocabulary). I liked it a lot, could have done a bit more caramelized almonds.</p>

We recently learned of Fun Facts</a> and it is a great party game for groups of people. Doesn’t matter if they know themselves or not. And I learned Port Royal</a> (a classic) has some extensions, so I bought the Adventure one</a> which I can wholeheartedly recommend.</p>
Projects</h2>
I did an art. I installed this LED matrix in our corridor. Anyone can add their tickers to it if they want, and next step is to swap from WiFi to serial (the esp wifi chip disconnects too much and takes too long to work through packets), and add integration with our public transportation so I know if I get the next bus/train.</p>

Recap</h2>
Everything is great, cause we are on vacation. We spend the first week of family + girlfriend holiday mostly hiking around the Eiffel, and Luxembourg. We also did a bit of an unplanned visit to the gamescom in Cologne (which isn’t too far from here). My girlfriends family decided to stay the full day, and I simultaneously got an offer for some not used tickets, so that worked out perfectly. I have never been there, and was positively overwhelmed with everything. I especially enjoyed hanging out in the indie dev area after we walked around the whole event, talking to the devs themselves about their games</a>.</p>

Culinary highlight</h2>
It is not that easy to find vegan restaurants in this area, so that is a nice challenge. But there were always tasty options, for example one local dish called Döpnuts/Döppekuchen which Wagners Landhaus</a> served with well done smoked tofu.</p>

So many great indie games from gamescom. I will make a short list with all the indie games I tried, please whishlist them it helps them massively with getting discovered by other people. Shoutouts to</p>

Smash n Grab</a>, a reaction skill based beat ’em up where you play a robot and racoon breaking into places and stealing stuff.</li>
Travel Pack</a>, a relaxed tile hopping games where you roll a dice and collect appropriate resources.</li>
The Dropouts</a>, a heavily from Life is Strange inspired mystery game with a great art style and some cool new ideas, e.g. you get to set if you want to experience jump scares.</li>
Swan song</a>, a puzzle game from experienced video and board (!?!do you know how hard it is to make commercial board games!?!) game makers, which looks and feels so great, and the devs are so lovely.</li>
Tiny bookshop</a> we didn’t actually get to play, but that there were always people playing speaks for itself and what we saw looked really good. I will probably give it a shot and report about it in detail. You manage a cozy bookshop.</li>
Ikuma - the frozen compass</a> is another game which we really wanted to play and just never got to cause there was always a queue. Its a coop game, you play either the husky or the person, who are stranded and have to find a way home, looked like a lot of fun!</li>
And I have to ofc mention Mars Attracts</a>, which comes out in early access in three weeks. Please whishlist and buy it, it is such a great theme park builder and you get all the gruesome Mars Attacks! humor, it is so good.</li>

Hello there. It has been a while. I used the off time and thought about changing the recap part a bit so it doesn’t feel like a chore. We shall see how it turns out.</p>
Recap</h2>
I finished my exams, and went straight into a week of taking care of a youth camp in Sweden. Then I spend a week basically in my home town with my girlfriend, doing events without friends. And now I am on the train to cologne to check out the second day of FrOSCon</a> (NewPipe e.V. has a booth \o/) together with her, and will be picked up by my parents to have two weeks of family + girlfriend holiday in the Volcanic Eifel</a>, with the explicit goal of visiting Luxembourg which we all haven’t seen yet.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
I was part of a barbecue and tried a new SimplyV product, the grilled cheese</a> (sorry only in German for now). It holds together quite well on the grill. The taste and consistency is not close to a milk based grilled cheese, but a totally acceptable substitute for me. Will eat it again.</p>
Currently watching/reading/listening</h2>
I am looking forward to watching the second season of Sandman and Wednesday, I am currently rewatching the first seasons with different people in preparation. There is also a new Bully Herbig movie in the cinema, Das Kanu des Manitu. His previous movies are German classics, but very much a comedy product of their time. Hence I am cautiously optimistic how well he transformed to 2025.</p>
And I am making great progess through the Stormlight Archives/Brandon Sanderson books with my mother, we threw in Tress of the Emerald Sea and it was a lovely story, and now we are in the first quarter of the last book of the Archives.</p>
Games</h2>
I got the Switch 2 and enjoyed Mario Kart and especially Donkey Kong Bananza (almost finished the story). I also started playing Antimatter Dimensions</a>, an incremental idle game. A very fun genre I haven’t interacted with previously, exciting to test this out.</p>
Projects</h2>
I found some time to code some parts of the new Telegram Bot API update, which I really enjoy doing and don’t find enough time for.</p>

Hello there. I am sorry for not posting for a bit again. I am still very committed to this weekly post idea, but I have more than usual going on in my life, so I do have to prioritize. Every blog post takes me around two hours to do, depending on extra things like pictures and what not, and I would rather spend this time on other stuff right now.</p>
My life will get more busy until my exam period, after which I am free \o/. So I will pick this up in August, and I will write down what happened in between and probably do one big recap post.</p>

Recap</h2>
Monday I spend the day finishing the lab report, and I cleaned the house. Tuesday I donated blood and did some work for the uni, I also prepared a lab for next week. Wednesday I finally wrote the blog post and had an interesting university lecture. After doing some more work for university I went to my family home with a little detour to spend the evening with my father and our previous field hockey hobby team members.</p>
Thursday the holiday trip started. We are travelling to Aschberg to meet up with old university friends of my father and their significant others, so a ~20 people large group. After checking in the Panorama Hotel</a> we did a small hike on the mountain with a nice Bismarck statue.</p>

The next day we went to Haithabu</a>, a Viking museum and open doors area where they rebuild some houses from that area. Some people go there and dress as they did in these days, display old handcrafts and a market. It was really neat. We got a tour through the area and hiked around the nearby lake Haddebyer Noor for one and a half hour.</p>

After that, my parents and I visited the Castle Gottorf</a> which has museums in its area, which was impressive to take in. We went with a tour through the old part of Schleswig. We visited the Holm, which is an old fisher settlement of Schleswig, and it has a Beliebung. This is a private graveyard/community association. I haven’t encountered this type before, not sure many exist in Germany still.</p>

Saturday we visited Eckernförde. We got a short tour through the core of the town, and visited more of it by ourselves. For the second half of the day we got a guide through the old fish smokehouse (German website only</a>). Sunday was my personal highlight. We visited the mixing plant from SAW (german website again</a>). We got a very impressive tour through the whole plant and surrounding area, the lab chief we convinced to do this for us on a Sunday was very knowledgeable and gave us great insights.</p>

Culinary highlight</h2>
No food from the trip really stuck out, though we had some crazy self-made ice called EiZ</a>. You make your own flavour, which is a unique approach. Not entirely convinced though.</p>

Currently watching/reading/listening</h2>
We finished watching Andor</em>, what a great show. 100% big recommendation, if you want to see a complex plot about how a rebellion starts in a fascist empire (and well, Star Wars). We immediately watched Rogue One</em> after that, because it leads so well into the movie.</p>
I had the great opportunity to read Rhythm of War</em> together with my mother. I spend the last weeks catching up with the book, we are now basically in sync with our reading progress and spend some time discussing the plot, world building, our theories on how it all connects together and effects the characters. It is a really neat experience being able to share something like that when you are right in the middle of it as well.</p>
Weekly thought</h2>
Open source technology maintainers are awesome. I have come in contact with quite some now and then, and they are usually helpful, totally nice. These people spend their free time doing some kind of service to the public, expecting nothing back. And are still so delightful about everything. These interactions always leave me with a warm feeling.</p>
YouTube channel shout-out</h2>
There is an even smaller YouTube channel I would like to share: Will Dennis</a>. He makes very short high quality videos occasionally, look at this one</a> for a great example how he does them. Big recommendation.</p>

My weeks got kinda busy, so I did skip last weeks blog post, apparently. I am still very caught up in real life stuff, but next one will be back on track. Sooorry :D</p>
Recap 01</h2>
Monday I tried to go through two lectures about energy technology, but that was too much for me. So I went home early, and wrote up the blog post. I also did some lab preparation work for the upcoming digital transmission technology.</p>
Tuesday an electrical engineer from Stromnetz Hamburg came and checked if he can install a small meter, which he couldn’t. We also got another handyman for the water leak. I just realized I didn’t talk about this yet for some reason: On the 24 of April we started to see a bit of water coming out of the chimney wall in our bathroom. We rent, so we contacted our landlords. I am actually quite happy with them, they are quick to respond and nice. So it’s not really their fault, but more about bad circumstances that it still isn’t fixed. In the meantime the water spread from just being a bit of water on the wall to covering the whole part of that wall, the ceiling, our corridor, and the kitchen (with the parts of their wall connected to the watering chimney). Not fun.</p>
Wednesday I went to Uni with a lab, it didn’t quite work out so we have to do some more work on it. Thursday I had a Uni lecture, did a bit of work for the university, and went to my hometown for the youth council meeting. On Friday the expected university lectures.</p>
On the weekend I went to theater with my girlfriend and friend, to the young theatre, which tailors their performances for young people. The play we saw was Im Spiegelsaal</a>, it was about beauty and relationships, especially in the digital age. A good friend of mine who has depression managed to stay clear from self harm for a year this day, big shout out to him! You rock! Sunday we went to a birthday picnic of a friend to Lüneburg. And our power stopped working in the bathroom/kitchen due to the leak, so I had to jerry rig a power cable to the kitchen (especially for the fridge), which is always fun to do.</p>

Recap 02</h2>
Monday after uni I went to theater with my roommate, girlfriend and two more mutual friends. Same theatre, this time Leiden der jungen Werte</a>. This is a play on the title of The Sorrows of Young Werther</a>, replacing Werther with the German translation of values. It was an excellent play, I think they captured and transformed the essence (of what I remember from reading, it has been a while lol) perfectly. And a plumber finally fixed the leak in the house, so no more indoor rain \o/.</p>
On Tuesday I had a lab, which worked out rather well, though while writing the lab record I realized I forgot saving one measuring value, which does suck a bit.
Wednesday I had a nice talk with the digitalization department in the company, about my bachelor thesis. The idea is to transform the process of approving processes into a proper digital one using Signavio</a>, with some research around it. Now I just need to find a professor who is willing to do it with me. On Thursday we finished another lab which worked out really well before a uni lecture.</p>
Friday I had university lectures and went to my hometown after that to do some tie-dyeing</a>. I spend the weekend with my girlfriend, we went to an Escape Room workshop on Saturday (we will design our own in the youth building this summer), and had a planning meeting on Sunday for the Sweden summer trip with the youth work. I also worked on the lab report.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
We did a big mushroom lasagna. It was extremly tasty.

I stumbled upon Elise Freshwater-Blizzard</a> and her Middle of Nowhere</a> series. She basically goes to the middle of nowhere in England, finds something interesting historically and does a great job about interviewing local historians as well as playing some roles with well done costumes, it’s a big recommendation.</p>
We also went to the premiere of Mission Impossible. That was the big experience one comes to expect from this series, and it was a good movie for that. However, I wasn’t fully satisfied. It doesn’t have the gadget charm of the previous ones, and had a lot of very long talking scenes. I wouldn’t recommend going into the Cinema, it is totally fine to watch it at home.</p>
And we watched Andor till the last episode. They managed to kinda surprise me with what they put in them, and it was perfectly made. Very excited for the finale.</p>
Games</h2>
I started playing Blue prince</a> with my girlfriend. It is a great game, absolutely worth the 30 bucks. I am a bit afraid that it might be a bit frustrating in the upcoming playthroughs when you know everything and just have to deal with/fail because of the random aspect of room drawing. But so far this hasn’t happened yet, we are learning a lot and having tons of fun.</p>

Thanks to a timely hint by my girlfriend I realized zola serve</code> clears the build directory by default, which I sync to my server. So whenever I tested locally the next blog post I borked my website. Thanks to the wonderful documentation of zola I found the flag to pass to fix this, -o serveFolder</code> to have serve</code> use a different folder then build</code>. But you also have to pass --force</code> now, no idea why.</p>

Recap</h2>
My Monday was basically a full day at university. After lectures I had a meeting with some profs and fellow students to come up with some low-hanging fruits regarding how to improve the study experience. And to eat pizza.</p>
On Tuesday there was no lecture, but I spend time baking muffins because my friend’s birthday was on Monday while meeting with other youth council members to talk about a rework of the concept document for us. I also prepared a rather easy Linux lab. My Wednesday started a bit crazy because I took a train outside of Hamburg to get to my grandmother and giving/installing a new tablet/wifi repeater, in preparation of Badminton</a>. After that we had an interesting lecture.</p>
Thursday we finished the well-prepared lab successfully, and I prepared the topics for the next youth council meeting (we have these bimonthly). I also had a great moment in Volleyball where I use knee protectors, so I often jump on my knees to reach a “lower than anticipated” ball. But at one point during the training one came loose so I did slide on my skin which was painful, never had that happen before — did get the ball though. Friday was a long uni day again, then I spend the evening with my friend catching up on Andor. In the night to Saturday I went to my girlfriend.</p>
And on Saturday I was with her brothers’ confirmation, and after that we went to a mutual friends birthday party. On Sunday I had a bit of a rough start in the day, but took time to catch up with my mother about Rhythm of War</em>. Then did a bit of lab work, visited a friend, and we tried out coffee which my father bought because it had his name on it, and I got 3D printed stuff. I closed the week with the last episode of Andor.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
We dared trying out Geschnetzeltes (which there is apparently no English word for, so uh. Thin strips of meat in a cream sauce with mushrooms and spring onion), which involves Soja which we had a kind of hit-and-miss experience with thus far. Tasted great this time.</p>

And I did try out poppy seed muffins, and a second charge with basic ones, which uses some dark chocolate we still have lying around. Especially the second charge had a perfect consistency.</p>
On top of that, there was some very tasty self made strawberry cake when I visited my friend. Especially for me vegan, which made it even better!</p>
Weekly thought</h2>
Music. I love music, I play some instruments, and I do have a bit of understanding in the theory behind music. Sometimes I happen to catch myself trying to analyse some parts of music I hear.</p>
This happened this week. YouTube Music somehow suggested to me Dance with Somebody</a> from Mando Diao. This is not the radio version, which I don’t think I have heard before. It has an amazing long introduction into the song where they continuously change what instrument you can currently hear and which you can’t, and they build the tension before the actual singing a lot of times, baiting you to think the song starts but it doesn’t yet. All while the iconic breathing is audible. It has way more character than the short radio intro.</p>
While I was enjoying this I started to wonder about how this all fits together and why the other iconic part of the song, the violins, are so memorable. And then I realised that they don’t start on the first beat, but on the next eight one.</p>

On the first eight of the note there is only the rather simple drums which are very present throughout the whole song. And then the strings set in and do their thing while the melody synth comes and goes. This is something they do the entire song, they weave the melody and their singing around the really well provided 4th and 8th beats of the drums. And I think that this is the reason why you remember them so well, because you kinda expect them to start earlier so you stumble over that, and then they have a very nice melody.</p>
Currently watching/reading/listening</h2>
I am reading the Rhythm of War still, which is really great. I do love the current plot, am very intrigued where it goes now. They found a new way to use fabrials, which are kind of like mobile gadgets which need recharging in a regular storm. I love this kind of step by step building of knowledge, though it is really quick :D</p>

We played dominion, I bought the Seaside extension</a> for my friends’ birthday. It was a lot of fun, it introduces the duration cards which stay an additional round. My friend somehow managed to do another village type of really long rounds with these cards…</p>

At the birthday party we played Munchkin Booty</a> which I gifted for the second birthday. It was a lot of fun, a great take on the munchkin series.</p>

I got the 3D printed parts. Almost all of them. I got a touchscreen for the raspberry pi, we want to use it to access our mealie.io</a> instance in a specific out of the way place in the kitchen. I found this adafruit article</a> about it, though they do make you give them an e-mail to download the parts which kinda sucks. My friend forgot printing the last part so we can’t install it yet. Hamburg Werbefrei</h2>
Before diving into this week’s recap, I’d like to expand on my link last week, just in case this post reaches someone in Hamburg until the 14.05 who hasn’t signed up yet. Feel free to skip this if you aren’t in this very narrow target group.</p>
Hamburg Werbefrei</a> is a Volksbegehren. This is something which can happen in every state of Germany, but Hamburg makes it rather easy to do for its inhabitant, so we have one every so often. This is a way to do direct democracy as the people, without having to go through representatives like usual with laws. They need to collect the signature of 5% of people living in Hamburg, and then the senate is kinda forced to make it into a law in four months, or all inhabitants get to directly vote on that law.</p>
This specific Volksbegehren is about having less ads in Hamburg, especially the flashy digital ones. They don’t want to fully ban ads, “just” drastically reduce the amount, and half of the area is for cultural events. I think that this is a great idea, so please sign it if you can.</p>
Recap</h2>
The Monday was just a full university day. On Tuesday I went back to my hometown after uni to go to church to test a live stream setup for Sunday, because the pastor will go to the Kirchentag so we want to show the live stream of that day. I went back with my girlfriend.</p>
On Wednesday I had a successful lab, some introduction to using the Linux OS.	I spend that day and the next with my girlfriend, which was a public holiday in Germany. This holiday, day of work, is accompanied by protests, which ran close to our street, and I saw a Wasserwerfer, which look quite threatening in person. I read/played some video games.</p>

I spend the Friday finishing a Minecraft time-lapse, which consists of 5 recordings each ~6 hours long. So I spend a lot of time deciding how to turn these recordings in time lapses so everything important is recorded, and then I had to combine them on Friday and think about an intro and what to showcase there. It is a lot of work but a lot of fun, and very satisfying to finish. On Saturday I did some work I put off, and Sunday I went to the church for the live stream. This was a bit annoying to do, since the person who was supposed to do the setup apart from the digital one didn’t show up. This meant I had to organize a church key somewhere and only had 9 minutes to set everything up after I finally got one. After that a friend of mine cut my hair, and I meet up with my family and fixed something on my grandmothers phone. I meet up with my girlfriend before going back to Hamburg.</p>

I’d like to spend this week’s “thought” about Brandon Sanderson, because I have read a lot of his books recently. I finished Oathbringer last week on Monday, then read through the Novella Dawnshard in the middle in three days and am now on Rhythm of War.

There are a lot of aspects in his craft which I thoroughly enjoy. He is a master in handling different perspectives. With an eerie precision, he knows exactly when to cut off from one POV to switch to a next one — just far enough in the current build-up of tension (Which btw has a beautiful German translation to Spannungsbogen, literal tension bow…). One really wants to continue with the current person, but is not actually annoyed because the one he is cutting to left one with the exact feeling , thus one wants to continue read that immediately.</p>
Then he is really clever with his magic system. It is fully thought through, it has clear limits, entities on both sides of the conflict know about this and have different skills in it. One learns with the protagonists more and more about using it (the same in Stormlight Archive as in Mistborn). And they grow adapt in using them with their limitations in creative ways.

Also a big part of his writing is religion. He writes big parts in his book about religion and has some characters act out of their faith, or use that believe to influence groups of people, or just have struggle with their faith. I see this seldom done in fantasy books and thoroughly enjoy this take. Then he indulges in several types of illnesses and shows how the character work with them, especially permanent ones. And I really enjoy the small novellas he wrote in between the big entries, which focus on characters who otherwise couldn’t have been in the spotlight. It really makes you appreciate the whole story even more.</p>
As a final note, in the meta texts he writes, e.g. the introduction, or some posts on his websites, he shows a deep thankfulness for all the people who help him in doing this job. He seems to appreciate every aspect of it, goes into great detail about the people behind the different art in the books, the cover, the people recording the audiobooks. For example, all the pictures are from his website which he freely shares.

All in all, I am very glad to have picked up a book of his, and hope for more to come. And I do hope you give it a shot as well, he has some short books as well, science-fiction as well as fantasy.</p>

There is a channel I would like to shoot out, ChrisSpargo</a>. He has a series he calls The small questions, and just answers some interesting observations. I thoroughly enjoy it, it is a bit of a Tom Scott replacement for me.</p>
I would also like to shout out mobygratis</a>, which has 500 free mostly instrumental tracks, which will fit greatly into any project as a background. It is a great offer which I just stumbled upon, and it is amazing for me that some artist just does it.</p>
Games</h2>
We played some Sky Team</a> in the flat. This is a coop game where you try to land a plane without crashing it. You roll dice, hidden from your teammate, and then take turns placing them on the board, without communicating (you need to before and after each round ofc). It is a lot of fun, big recommendation.</p>
Projects</h2>
I bought a touchscreen for my Raspberry Pi, which we will use to have some digital recipes in the kitchen. More about that next week. Make the best out of your day!</p>

Well well well life happened, so this week’s post is rather short, and I guess the one next week will be bigger with more actual thoughts. But the recap is actually quite long so. Strap in.</p>

Recap</h2>
In my university semester the first labs started, and I had to do one without knowing my lab partner previously. So I prepared that on Monday/Tuesday, and it went rather well, so I think this will be alright. I had to finish working on the second lab though, which haunted me till yesterday (and is still not really finished tbh).</p>
Apart from recovering from Easter though I set up Syncthing</a> to my tablet. This software makes it really easy to sync folders between places, so I use it to sync my files to my home server; and between my machines, like my university files now. I also met up with my brother (who stayed a bit longer) and mother, and we went to the bunker in St. Pauli</a>. The view is unique because you are right in the city on all sides, and still surrounded by basically a garden setup next to the bunker. After that we went to the new Westfield shopping center</a>, which is. Fine. It is more open spacey and not straight forward like most others I have been in thus far, which makes it nicer to walk through. But a lot of small shops weren’t open yet.</p>
A friend was over on Wednesday, and we played some computer games together which was a lot of fun, those meet ups are so great I love doing them. In the same manner we went on Friday to other friends for a short board game evening. On Saturday me and my girlfriend went to the Schanzenflohmarkt</a> and after being properly overwhelmed with the people there we went to the park.

After that I went to Stade to meet a fellow student who lives there with a couple other students. He showed us a bit around in the city, and we walked to his flat and ended up playing two rounds of Codenames: Pictures</a> which I haven’t played before, it works just as well as the original though. On Sunday I visited with a friend the Elbe westwards, Klein Flottbek, and we went back via the harbour ferries which is always a nice trip. The evening was a play in the theater, we saw an awesome take on Romeo and Juliet.

I nearly finished Oathbringer this week, I actually finished it yesterday (spoilers). I will probably write about it in the next post when I have some more time.</p>

Recap</h2>
This was a very normal week, but we had eastern holidays over the weekend. During the week, I had a work meeting where I recapped something for a new person in the call, which I already told one of the other colleagues and summarized as an E-Mail. I love</em> working in big companies. I went to the youth house I am active in on Thursday with my girlfriend, and we made some small improvements to the place.</p>
I started the eastern holidays with seeing my brother Thursday evening, who lives half the country away from me, so I don’t see him as often, we had a nice evening together. Then we had a quite relaxed Friday, and we visited my grandparents from Saturday to Monday. We also had to move the chickens with us, because one of them got sick and needed to take her medicine. It was a lovely weekend, we did some garden spring work, hunted easter eggs, went to Mass, I played a bit guitar, and we had a good time together.</p>

Weekly thought</h2>
I am very jealous of people realizing hardware projects. I tend to take a lot of time to do those, but I frequently see some and feel really inspired to do them myself. For example, a friend of mine self-made a light-saber where one can control the LEDs/sounds way better than you can on any bought ones, which is so awesome.</p>

Other projects would be:</p>

finally getting a voice modulator chip to work so when speaking into it the voice gets disturbed to sound like Alastor</a>, which would be really satisfying to do, but I also can’t seem to find the time even though I’ve got lots of hardware already there for it.</li>
attaching a mail tube to our buildings entrance, in order to have our newspaper protected in there (maybe I should ask for permission from our landlords. Or rather forgiveness)</li>
either implementing the smart stuff I already made into our letterbox, or making a second key so me and my friend don’t have to share one key</li>
coming up with a proper system to categorize and list the inventory of the workshop in our youth house, so  it’s easy to know what and how much of it is where.</li>

I again didn’t really take pictures of these I gotta start with that.</p>

We made a tasty marinated tofu dish with noodles.</li>
I made a tasty tomato salsa and gnocchi dish with my brother, and some applecrumble as desert. My father enjoyed it so much he ate half the tray after he arrived late in the night.</li>
And well, being with my grandmother who loves cooking is a highlight in itself</li>

I watched Spider-Man No way home with my brother since he hadn’t seen it yet.</li>
I enjoyed testing Lateral</a> with my girlfriend and flatmate, and later playing it with my family. Lots of fun, can really recommend doing it.</li>
And I made huge progress with Oathbringer. I enjoy so much in the craft, he is a really skilled author. I will probably write about it next week</li>

I realized the website deployment with Syncthing, which broke, probably because I made the website a subfolder of another Syncthing folder. Being stubborn I just switched the marker to a different one ’cause apparently one can do that, which is neat.</li>
Speaking of the website, my girlfriend started giving her comments and advice on the language of the posts, so they are linguistically improved now, thanks love.</li>
I found Zettlr</a> a while ago for editing Markdown, and I discovered this week that it also has a spell checking feature which is disabled by default. It is not anymore, I feel very checked.</li>

Recap</h2>
I am toying around with the structure of these posts, bear with me. I also didn’t properly start taking notes yet (I didn’t decide to start this website till Wednesday), so I should be more satisfied with the blogs and myself starting next week o/.</p>
This is the first week of my last semester. I really enjoyed getting back to university, to lectures. I am a bit slower than the people I started with, but amazingly enough you make so many connections that I met people I already knew in every single course I enrolled in. The exams don’t look that daunting, two professors aim for oral exams which suit me way more than written ones.</p>
I met up with a fellow student on Saturday, in Sternschanzenpark at a free table tennis table. It was excellent fun, and I wasn’t quite as rusty as I had feared.</p>
A big happening was the P&P role-playing game on Sunday. This is the first adventure in this system for the group, and I am DMing, so I spend the week going over everyone’s characters to make sure everything works out. I made sure their background stories were fitting, chose the adventure and educated myself about the setting. It went fairly well, we didn’t get as far as I’d hoped, especially because I wasn’t sure enough about a lot of rules in the opening fight. But they had a lot of fun, so Angbarer Bock</a> is a recommendation, especially as a short starting adventure. Sorry about the German link I doubt there is an English one.</p>
Weekly thought</h2>
A video from Eddy Burback about getting rid of his phone for a month</a>. I did enjoy the style of his documentary about it. The music tailor-made for that essay was top-notch. I am wondering how much this relates to me though, since we have very different lifestyles. I used to be very detached from my phone growing up (there were days I didn’t use it because I didn’t bother charging), and I am still not indulging in main stream social media apps. I do doom-scrolling via Reddit and Mastodon, and I enjoy watching YouTube videos while doing everyday tasks.</p>
I think I could still live easily without that right now, the parts I would probably miss it most for are using it to authenticate myself, and navigating to places/seeing where certain shops are around me. But it does sound like an interesting challenge.</p>
Currently watching/reading/listening/eating</h2>

I am currently watching Wretch play Rosewater</a>, a point and click adventure. It has a very cool setting. I watched his lets play of Sherlock Holmes, and was really impressed about his pop culture knowledge, he caught so many small things in the world I missed. I like watching a series of him from time to time since then.</li>
We made some very yummy Swedish potatoes. We put them in a sauce made from vegan (sour) cream and throw some salty bacon alternative on there, it is amazing.</li>
And we watched the Minecraft movie. I wouldn’t say its worth watching it for the movie itself in a cinema, but the atmosphere/crowd experience in there is better put in words by Jamie Fussell</a> (this was a random click on a YouTube recommendation) then I ever could. CHICKEN JOCKEYYYY. I guess.</li>

Bigger media</h2>
We finished Splid Fiction. We will probably come back for the achievements, but we agreed that it’s a big recommendation, as its predecessors. They decided to get really creative with a lot of concepts in the big finale which I really appreciated.</p>
We are watching Andor currently, for me, it is a rewatch, my friend didn’t watch it yet. The second season is coming out soonish and I really look forward to it, I have high hopes it is as good as the first season is.</p>

Recap</h2>
This week is an interesting way to start into this series, because I was on vacation from Monday to Friday. So instead of writing my thoughts, I will recap the vacation a bit. You get pictures of it though, which is nice. I put info about the picture in the hover tag.</p>
I and one of my best friends visited a mutual friend in Leipzig, spend 1.5 days there and visited some sights (the Zeitgeschichtliche Forum is a big recommendation). We had two very fun evenings together, playing Dominion on one and overcooked on the other.</p>

The next day we went on a train ride to Prague and visited the must-see spots (huge castle with cathedral, old town with tyn cathedral, national museum and the observation deck which was sadly closed when we got there). Thursday we went to Dresden where we also started with the must-see sights (Dreikönigskirche on the way to the old town, where just 5 minutes apart you have the Semperoper, Residenzschloss + Zwinger and Frauenkirche). After those we rented bikes and biked along the Elbe, which was a enjoyable change of pace.</p>

On Friday we travelled back quite early, on one hand because the ticket was a lot cheaper, on the other hand because of our distrust of the Deutsche Bahn. I wanted to be back on time, because I was responsible for a board game event in the youth group I'm active in. Prior to that I visited my girlfriend, and we went to the event together.
On Saturday I planned my last lecture semester, after finishing it (and successfully passing the exams), I only have to write my Bachelor thesis, after which I am done with university. For now. I also started fiddling around with Zora and Ducksquill that day.</p>
And on Sunday we had a volleyball game day but sadly lost our matches. In the afternoon my girlfriend came over, and we made pizza rolls for a fellow students movie night, which we went to after.</p>
Culinary highlight</h2>
I didn’t take pictures of these, I might have to start that now.</p>

I ate a great vegan Schnitzel in Dresden at Steffenhagen</a>, which I can wholeheartedly recommend.</li>
The self-made pizza rolls were really tasty this time, though I didn’t like the vegan sausage we got.</li>

I am also watching Jet Lag, as the motivation for this website did. I tried watching them with many of their series before, but they were always a bit too much for me, I am easily overstimulated by YouTube videos. This series however has Tom Scott in it, a YouTuber I am a fan of, who has taken a hiatus from YouTube. He is an amazing fit and I thoroughly enjoyed his presence. Looking forward to the finale.</li>

Culinary highlight</h2> We have a long running take on a Swedish blueberry cake. We use elder berries which grow in our backyard. It is a lot, like a full blown dinner right there. Also because we have this vanilla sauce which is mostly fat to put on it.

Recap</h2> My Monday was basically a full day at university. After lectures I had a meeting with some profs and fellow students to come up with some low-hanging fruits regarding how to improve the study experience. And to eat pizza.</p>

Weekly thought</h2> Music. I love music, I play some instruments, and I do have a bit of understanding in the theory behind music. Sometimes I happen to catch myself trying to analyse some parts of music I hear.</p>
