Weekly Post 20

Recap

On Monday we finally went to a doctor with my girlfriend, and we acquired some appropriate medicine. A friend of mine did a quite successful Twitch stream after not streaming for a year, and he aims at doing it again next week, I hope it works out :D. Tuesday I helped my mother with driving gardening leftovers to a recycling yard, and I had an IT committee meeting. Wednesday I went back to Hamburg, cleaned the room a bit and had some friends over for a round of Wizard. Thursday I finally finished the blog post and played around a bit with an electronics project. Friday I really cleaned my room because I had some new guests over to prepare a workshop presentation regarding the di.day (no English version yet, basically just a collection of big tech alternatives which people are encouraged to switch to and post about on a specific day). I will do this during the workshop phase for the next AktiKo in a couple weeks. Also my girlfriend had an allergic reaction to the meds… Saturday my flatmate, girlfriend and me met up with my former flatmate and his fiancé, and we went to the Dammtorhallen. After that I bought some new trousers with my girlfriend, we got cake from Nasch and had a nice evening planning a trip to Lübeck we will take in two weeks. Sunday I played beach volleyball.

Culinary highlight

We tried some self made potato gratin. I liked it but the potatoes weren’t amazing so I want to tweak it a bit further.

Song of the week

I dropped the ball last week. I really wanted to share a new song + music video, and I forgot! I followed the German Eurovision Song Contest preliminary song decision event because I subscribed to one of the artist (Marti Fischer) for the last years on YouTube. I really don't think much of the winner. How suprised I was when I saw in my YouTube feeds a couple days later the UK ESC entry from LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER with the amazing German name Eins, Zwei, Drei. I really like the artist, the song is perfect for the ESC, and I am just a big sucker for old tech. What a music video.

Currently watching/reading/listening

I am chucking away at Bastille vs the evil librarians, not much to report there. We are also getting further with The Foundation, and Sandman. I am also in the second to last season of The Mentalist, where the main antagonist since the beginning of the series was apprehended in a big tension filled finale. Interested where they go to now, so far I like it.

Games

I played Anno 1800 a bit again. I played it on release for a while, but now I bought the whole 5 year Gold Edition and want to rediscover what the game has in store. I do really look forward to playing 117, but with the current review status it is not worth the price, so I will hold off for a bit I guess, and get my Anno fix this way.

Projects

I will talk about the electronics project in a separate blog post, didn’t get around to writing it yet. However I was once again blown away what linux apps sometimes offer, because they were written by technical people for technical people. Because ofc we want to sometimes rename a couple files at once, and ofc there is a built in solution into the file browser nowadays.

And I spend some time improving the gallery grouping of images. That was really annoying to do previously, now it just works TM.
