A new website/a blog
Hello there. Maybe you are revisiting this website and are surprised about the new look, maybe you are new and just want to see the first post on this site. Anyway, welcome.
I redid my website because of anhvn.com. I visited her site randomly via Kagi Small Web about a week ago deep in the night. Their weeknootes blog style really impressed me, especially the listing of what one did, as mundane as watching a YouTube series.
So I thought to myself, I might also be able to do this. I got feedback from various people in my life that I should share more of myself/what I do, but I don’t feel comfortable forcing it onto them. So this passive way, where I just post into the world, might be exactly what I need. This will also be a great support for my own memory.
After a bit of research, I landed on Ghost. Their whole setup was too big/professional for me, but what really intrigued me was their upcoming ActivityPub integration. Doesn’t really matter what that exactly is, but I searched for something a little smaller with the same integration and stumbled over DuckQuill and Zola. I sadly wasn’t unable to get it to run (neither was the dev), but I wanted to stick with Zola now and this theme was quickly recommended.
Anyway, I am excited. This theme is a great fit for me, it showcases my bigger projects nicely, and I can start a weekly blog separated from it/other posts. It also has great translation support, so the people in my life who don’t enjoy reading English can read it in German. Sadly no mastodon comments yet or an AcitivityPub feed, so I will have to advertise the posts “manually”, and well you might just have to PM me your comments. But it’s a great start nonetheless.
Thanks for reading. Hope you stick around and I stick to posting.
